2024 Appointment Committee Report
On 31st October 2024, the Appointment Committee of the PCEA church did a placement of 138 Church personnel who will be serving in different stations. The appointment committee draws its membership from all the 61 Presbyteries, each of which is presented by two people – a minister and an elder. There is usually one major appointment meeting every year which takes place in the month of October. Among those who we replaced in this shuffle are five minsters who are retiring this year.
The 138 personnel that were placed in this meeting are in the following categories:
1. Chaplains – in this category are five persons who are already employed and already carrying out chaplaincy duties in their stations. They were placed for practical attachment that lasted up to one year. After practical, they will be ordained and continue to offer chaplaincy services.
2. Private students – sixteen persons in this category were posted for practical experience. This category contains persons who have trained in theology prior to being recruited into holy ministry. After the practical experience, they will be ordained to serve as full-time ministers employed by the church.
3. Tent makers – in this category are the 20 persons who seek ordination after practical but will continue working where they are employed without seeking church employment.
4. Regular students – in this category are twenty persons who were recruited prior to training in theology. The church sponsored their theological education fully. They have been placed for practical experience and then employed fully by the church after ordination.
5. Ministers – in this category are 76 ministers who were moved from one parish to another. Normally, ministers serve about five years in one parish, after which they are transferred.
Below is the full list and the places they were posted to.
