25 years of PCEA Kariobangi South Parish
On Sunday, 6th April 2025, Kariobangi South Parish celebrated a significant milestone – its 25th anniversary. The celebration brought together congregants from PCEA Kariobangi South Church, PCEA KCC Church and joined by guests including the Moderator of the 24th General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Thegu Mutahi.
While the parish officially turned 25, its story began earlier in 1975 when a small group of devoted members from PCEA Bahati Martyrs came together for regular fellowship. These humble gatherings laid the foundation for what would become a thriving congregation. Elders Stanley Murimi and Israel Ndung’u were later appointed to formally establish the PCEA Kariobangi South Congregation. In the early years, worship services were held in a repurposed shed until 1978, when the members were allocated a church plot through Mayor Ngumba.
Today, Kariobangi South Parish falls under the Nairobi South Presbytery and is led by Rev. Jason K. Mwirichia. It also runs PCEA Kariobangi South Academy, a school founded in 1999, which currently serves over 1,200 pupils.
“Today’s celebrations marks and represents a quarter of a century of dedication, commitment and sacrifice by a team of united congregants who collectively believed that a journey travelled together becomes less tiring.” – Rev. Jason K. Mwirichia
