Another Certified Professional Mediators Graduation organised by JPRC

On October 18th, 2024, the Justice, Peace, Reconciliation, and Creation (JPRC) Department held a Certified Professional Mediators (CPM) Graduation at PCEA Emmanuel, Kinra Church for 27 mediators. The event was officiated by Rev. Dr. Elias Agola, the JPRC Director and the current NCCK Chairman. In attendance was also Rev. Sarah Murithi from Kibera and Retired Rev. Charles Maingi from Nairobi. This was the 7th CPM graduation in Nairobi region since December 2023.

CPM is a one-week intensive training that offers participants the opportunity to learn and undergo the mediation process, including assessments and other core units. JPRC collaborates with mediation training centers that provide comprehensive training, featuring lectures, videos, demonstrations, and group discussions. Upon completing the training, participants are assessed and certified as Professional Mediators.

Professional mediators are trained to guide conversations, de-escalate tensions, and identify underlying issues, ensuring that all voices are heard. They operate in various sectors, including family, workplace, business, and community mediation, helping individuals, organizations, and governments find collaborative, peaceful, and cost-effective resolutions.

Over the years, mediation has gained popularity as a preferred method of conflict resolution. It offers an alternative to legal proceedings by involving a neutral third party who facilitates effective communication between disputing parties, promoting mutual understanding and cooperation. Mediation is typically confidential, less formal, and more flexible than court processes, allowing for creative solutions tailored to the specific needs of those involved.

With its emphasis on preserving relationships and fostering open dialogue, mediation helps parties resolve conflicts without the adversarial nature of legal battles. JPRC is committed to ensuring that the church has trained members capable of serving as mediators. We invite all interested to be on the look out for the upcoming training opportunities.
