Brigade Week Launch and Commissioning of Garments Factory At PCEA International Brigade Conference and Training Centre, Ngenda

The Moderator of the 24th GA will on Saturday 3rd August 2024 lead the church in launching the Brigade Week and commission the garments factory machines at the Presbyterian International Brigade Training and Conference Centre in Ng’enda Mission Area, Kiambu County. The event will also include a funds drive to help facilitate payments of the premises and upgrading the factory production unit. Other General Assembly Officials, Heads of Departments, Presbytery Representatives, and Regional Representatives will also be expected at this event.

The vision of PCEA International Brigade Conference and Training Centre was put forward by Rev. Wilson Macharia – a former National Director of the PCEA Brigade in 2018 who teamed up with local partners to start actualizing this vision.

The centre is intended to be the main production unit for the official fabrics and garments for all church groups, be a training centre for Boys and Girls, a retreat centre, a vocational school, a children’s rescue centre and a farm.

The garment factory has been in operation since 2021. When starting, the ministry involved volunteer tailors who brought their own machines and were given the space and materials to work with. The ministry later bought its own machines and employed tailors.

Brigade Week will also be launched on 3rd and is scheduled to run from 5th August all the way to 11th August 2024. Activities for the week will mainly be done at Parish level culminating in Brigade Week Sunday service that is usually conducted by brigadiers.

The brigade is a uniformed Christian organization for boys and girls that is international and interdenominational standing on pillars of religion and discipline. According to the National Children’s Ministry Director Rev. Peter Nderitu, Brigade Week is significant to children as it allows them to be part of the bigger church through activities that mentor the child emotionally, physically, spiritually, and socially.

The launch, morning devotions and other shows related to Brigade Week will be streamed live on Kirk TV and PCEA Children’s Ministry social media handles.
