PCEA moves towards its 4th Mission Hospital in Rift Valley region

On Saturday, 9th August 2025, PCEA marked a historic milestone in its mission to expand healthcare outreach. The Deputy Secretary General Rev. John Mbae formally constituted the interim board for the establishment of the 4th Mission Hospital in Rift Valley region. This is the second phase of a long-awaited dream of moving from aspiration to implementation.

This new step builds on the strong foundation laid by the Church’s other mission hospitals: PCEA Kikuyu Hospital which was established 1908 and serves the Central region, PCEA Tumutumu Hospital established in 1909 serving the Mount Kenya region and PCEA Chogoria Hospital established in 1922 serving the Eastern region.

For generations, these institutions have combined compassionate healthcare with training and Christian ministry, delivering general medical services, maternity care, and community health programs that have transformed countless lives. Each hospital has a unique contribution, offering advanced services close to home, reducing the need for long journeys to urban centres, and anchoring outreach and preventive health campaigns especially in rural communities.

Strategically located in Rumuruti, Laikipia County, the new hospital will bring affordable, quality healthcare closer to the rural communities, address health needs and serve as a base for medical outreach in the region. The facility will extend PCEA’s holistic mission of caring for both body and soul, reinforcing the Church’s commitment to serve communities in both their physical and spiritual needs.

The PCEA Health Board in establishing this hospital aims to collaborate with the other three PCEA  hospitals, MBF (Medical Benevolence Foundation), County Government of Laikipia, and other partners to fast-track the implementation.
