Kahawa Farmers Church was established in 1987 with an initial membership of 98 people and 3 elders. In August 2003, it was inaugurated as a parish alongside Githurai and Kahawa West Parishes by the Moderator of the 17th General Assembly, Very Rev. Dr. David M. Githii. The parish expanded over the years, and in July 2010, it established its second congregation, PCEA Kiu Kenda Church.
The subdivision journey for Kahawa Farmers Parish began in July 2024 under the leadership of Rev. Phanuel K. Njoka, the Parish Minister. Before the subdivision, Kahawa Farmers Parish comprised 56 districts with 56 active elders and 10 retired elders. Following the subdivision, Rev. Dr. John Calvin will serve as the interim Parish Minister for Kiu Kenda Parish.
Both Kahawa Farmers Parish and Kiu Kenda Parish are part of the Nairobi North Presbytery. Other parishes in this Presbytery are; Mukinyi, Kahawa West, Kahawa Station, Sukari, New Githurai, Ruaraka, Gateway, Mbooni Nendeni Area, Kasarani East, Kasarani West, Kasarani Central, Berea, Kimbo, Zimmerman, Thome, Mwihoko, and Wendani.

2. An ordained minister will be available for the new Parish.
3. There is at least one permanent or semi-permanent but already dedicated building for public worship in the proposed Parish.
4. It is able to support its minister properly, including the provision of suitable housing reasonably furnished for the minister and his/her family.
5. The Parish has completed its contribution and assessment to the Maintenance of the Ministry Fund and that no arrears are still pending.
6. The necessary Congregational Church record books are available for each Congregation of the new Parish or Business Committee.
7. There is a reasonable number of active elders available for the work of the new Parish.
8. No objection has been raised against the formation of the new Parish by any Congregation or the Session hither to responsible for the area proposed.
We congratulate all from Kahawa Farmers and Kiu Kenda Parishes for this new milestone.
