Announcement of the Demise of Very Rev. Dr. George Wanjau
After a busy day of receiving reports from the Committees and Ministries at the 24th GA of PCEA Church on Wednesday, 10 April 2024, the Moderator of 24th General Assembly Rt. Rev. Thegu Mutahi announced the sad news of the demise of the Moderator to the 11th and 12th General Assembly Very Rev. Dr. George Wanjau, who passed on while undergoing treatment at Karen hospital, following a season of age-related poor health.
Rev. Thegu eulogised the late Dr. Wanjau, as a committed minister who oversaw the Africanisation of PCEA St. Andrew’s Church, where he started serving in 1968. The late Dr. Wanjau had a special interest in the ministry of the youth. He presided a GAC that resolved to allow the charismatic expressions in the PCEA church that forestall the avalanche of young people to Pentecostal charismatic churches.
The Moderator further observed that the late Dr. Wanjau mooted the idea of construction of a youth hall to enhance ministry to both the youth in the church and the students of the University of Nairobi. The hall is now a reality and is the venue of the ongoing General Assembly of the PCEA Church.
The General Assembly and indeed the entire church is in prayers with the widow, children, and the entire family of the late Dr. Wanjau during this difficult season of mourning. More details to follow.
