Outgoing to Incoming – The PCEA Head Office Staff Hold a Unique Worship Service

Today Tuesday, 23rd April 2024, the Head Office staff and General Assembly (GA) officers held a unique worship service for bidding farewell to the outgoing HODs and GA officers, as well as welcoming the incoming officers of the church.

Sermon was shared by the Moderator of 24th General Assembly drawn from Joshua 24:1-15 emphasizing the theme of 24th GA, “We will serve the Lord” (verse 15). He observed that despite the list of achievements, Joshua had also witnessed frustrations in the journey from Egypt, e.g. the defeat at Ai. We don’t serve God because things are easy but it’s the right thing to do. Like Joshua, we need to glorify the good things God has done and is doing, rather than focusing on the negatives of the past. Only when it’s dark, can you see the stars. That way, we can effectively make a commitment to always serve the Lord. Dwelling on the negatives hinders us from serving the Lord.

Moderator thanked all church staff for the support during the tenure of 23rd GA. He wished the outgoing official God’s blessings as the transit to other tasks.

During that service, Jemimmah Rieu, spoke on behalf of the staff. She thanked the outgoing officers and welcomed the new team, pledging support from the entire staff team. She urged all to support each other to make the working environment better.

In his remark, the Secretary General (SG) observed that things will change for better and that many will be surprised at how things will turn for good in the 24th GA. The SG did the introductions of Heads of Department as follows- Rev. Kaira has been appointed the acting Director of Kirk Insurance while Rev. John Gatu is the acting Director of Communication.

Outgoing Honorary Treasurer Eld. Daniel Waithima observed that it is always an honour to serve in the church. It calls for loyalty. He thanked all staff for resilience and commitment even when it was a bit tough financially.

The outgoing Deputy Secretary General (DSG) Rev. Paul Kariuki thanked God for the opportunity to serve. He thanked Head Office staff for the support and co-operation and for ensuring the General Assembly was a success. He also thanked his wife Monica who was present for support at family level. Col 3:23, ‘whatever you do, do it to the glory of God.’ He and the wife invited the church to sing with them the hymn, ‘He leadeth me…”.

Incoming Honorary Treasurer Eld David Ndumo promised to work with the Head Office team to make the work better and efficient.

Incoming DSG – Rev John Mbae who was accompanied by his wife Judy thanked the Head Office team for support. He invited all to make the working environment at the church a joyous one. He advise that each person should give themselves fully to the service of the Lord; that we should work as a team with minimum supervision; and that, we must value our families. Finally he committed to work with other officials to make the church great.

After a cake cutting occasion, there was a time of fellowship over a cup of tea.
