PCEA KARUTHI PARISH SUBDIVIDED

PCEA Karuthi Parish in Githunguri Presbytery was on Sunday subdivided into Matuguta Parish and Karuthi Parish. The event was officiated by the Moderator Rt. Rev. Thegu Mutahi, accompanied by GA officials including the Secretary General, Rev. Dr. Robert Waihenya, Deputy Secretary General, Rev. John Mbae, and Honorary Treasurer, Elder David Ndumo, among other ministers and church leaders.

In his sermon titled ‘Disorientation and Reorientation’ from Genesis 12:1-9 and Philippians 2:5-11, the Moderator encouraged congregants to remain steadfast in faith even when God’s promises seem distant. He reflected on Abraham’s journey through disorientation and eventual blessing, comparing it to Christ’s suffering and exaltation, urging believers to trust God’s grace to realign their lives in His perfect timing.

The Moderator also reminded the church of the upcoming Centenary Celebrations in 2026, marking 100 years since the ordination of the first African ministers, the Kikuyu Bible, the first liturgy book for African ministers, and Alliance High School.

Following the subdivision, Rev. Shem Ngatia Githinji will serve as the Parish Minister of Matuguta Parish, while Rev. Lydia Kahiga will continue her ministry at Karuthi Parish.
