Children Ministry Set to Give Support to Children at Maai Mahiu
On 6th May 2024, the Children Ministry in partnership with Muguga Presbytery and the Mission and Board for Social Responsibility (Mission & BSR) visited families affected by floods. They distributed blankets, rice, milk and sugar. The Board identified 17 families which to give aid and is set to visit the families on Tuesday 14th May 2024.
The Children Ministry director called upon well-wishers to contribute tangible items like clothes for children below 18 years, school items including text books, school shoes and bags, clean baby items, sanitary and toiletries, and other items that can improve children’s esteem. The items can be dropped at the PCEA Head Office or PCEA Maai Mahiu Church.
“Following the ongoing flood situation, children are equally affected. Whenever faced by day-to-day disasters, let us consider that children are also affected directly or indirectly including experiencing emotional trauma,” said Rev Peter Nderitu, Director, PCEA Children Ministry.
Today, Wednesday, 8th May 2024 PCEA Children Ministry is set to spend the day with about 200 children affected by floods at PCEA Maai Mahiu. The aim is to have a fun day, give them hope, socialize, and share meals and gifts.
A joined memorial service for families that lost loved ones at Maai Mahiu will take place on 9th May 2024 and respective families will proceed with burials.
The Presbyterian Church of East Africa sends its heartfelt condolence to all families who have lost loved ones due to floods across the nation.
