UPC Expands Mission in Washington State with Launch of Olympia Church
On Sunday, 14th June 2026, Umoja Presbyterian Church (UPC) marked a significant milestone in its ministry journey with the launch of a new Campus, UPC Olympia Church, in Olympia, Washington State – USA.
The occasion also included the dedication of a newly acquired parcel of land. The event symbolized both a new beginning and a strategic step in the church’s mission to expand its presence beyond Tacoma.
The guest minister in attendance was the Deputy Secretary General, Rev. John Mbae, The host minister was Rev. Joseph Ole Kisanga. Among other ministers present were Rev. Nelson Ng’ang’a and Rev. Kanja of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, Federal Way, alongside church elders and members from various congregations.
The launch of UPC Olympia Church reflects the congregation’s commitment to growth, evangelism, and service to the community as the church seeks to reach more people with the message of Christ.

Prior to attending the Olympia event, Rev. John Mbae represented PCEA at the Presbyterian Church in Ireland (PCI) 2026 General Assembly. During the assembly, he witnessed the installation of the new Moderator, Right Reverend Dr. Richard Kerr and presented him with a banner to mark the 60th anniversary of the mission partnership between Presbyterian Church in Ireland and the Presbyterian Church of East Africa.
