First GAC of the 24th General Assembly of PCEA Church
The first General Administration Committee (GAC) of 24th General Assembly will take place from 22nd to 26th April 2025 hosted by the Eastern Region, Imenti North Presbytery, Meru West Parish.
GAC, which is a special committee appointed by the GA meets once every year (when the General Assembly is not meeting) for the purpose of carrying out the work of the church from one General Assembly to the next.
GAC is constituted of:
- Commissioners: – General Assembly Officials; Moderator, Secretary General (SG), Deputy Secretary General (DSG), and Honorary Treasurer (HT). Two Presbytery representatives one business committee member and their designated pair. Past Moderators also known as church fathers and co-opted members appointed to pair with GA ministers and past moderators. Commissioners participate in debates and also in voting.
- Delegates: Before the restructuring of church groups the standing committees used to bring five delegates each. Currently, only the national directors and heads of church institutions attend as delegates. Delegates can participate in debates but cannot vote.
- Guests: Being an open committee, guests are allowed to sit in but they cannot participate in debate and cannot vote. They are allowed to bring greetings.
Since 1968, the annual GAC meeting has rotated among the Presbyterial areas. The committee typically convenes on Tuesday evening, is formally constituted on Wednesday morning, and continues its regular business until adjournment on Saturday.
The planning committee led by the DSG has begun preparations. As the process unfolds, church members are encouraged to pray earnestly for its success.
Institutions and individuals are allowed to exhibit their products and services through the communication department.
